Across Chios and the Greek Aegean islands, RBB continues to respond โ from managing a 24-hour helpline supporting people after arrival and in distress, to helping them access their asylum rights instead of facing pushbacks and border violationsโฆ to providing urgent aid like food, hygiene packs, missing person searches, and support for funerals and repatriations.
This week, our team supported the burial of two women from Somalia who lost their lives when their boat capsized upon arrival to Chios. Only a few months ago, we buried a baby.
Conflict, genocide, persecution, and climate change in places like Sudan, Palestine, and Congo continue to force people from their homes โ people labelled as โrefugees,โ but first and foremost, human. Mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, and children.
Itโs a hidden crisis now, with little media attention, yet people are still arriving every day after treacherous journeys.
We have to continue โ because every life matters.
We are pleased to announce a new partnership with the Randal Foundation, who have recently provided us with a grant to continue this important work. We often apply for grants to keep our projects going, but we were especially happy to work with the Randal Foundation, who showed the utmost care for our work and supported us with kindness and understanding through the process.ย
